Mira Costa Girls Water Polo enjoys a rich tradition of success as Bay League champions and finalists in recent years. Led by new head coach Adoni Nahabed, the program consists of three teams: Varsity, JV and Frosh-Soph.
Girls Water Polo is a no-cut sport. Pre-season training starts at the beginning of the school year, with evaluations and Varsity tryouts in early September. Training frequency increases as the Boys Water Polo season winds down in October, and the competition season runs from November to mid-February.
Mira Costa Girls Water Polo is completely funded and run by the Girls Water Polo Booster Club, comprised of the athletes’ parents. Athletes work hard but also enjoy many social events and special traditions that build bonds and lifelong friendships. To find out more or join, contact Coach Adoni Nahabed at anahabed@mbusd.org; for program info or to volunteer, email costagirlswp@gmail.com.

Contributions support the girls water polo program throughout the season.

Girls Water Polo is a winter sport and a no-cut sport. Team evaluations and Varsity tryouts take place at the MCHS Pool in early September (dates to come). No prior experience is required, but basic swimming is needed — club team play increases playing time, as there are only 6 field players and 1 goalie in the pool at a time.
The competition season runs from late November through late February, with mandatory workouts during a portion of Thanksgiving and Winter breaks for Varsity and JV. A Summer School class option is offered through MBX.
All players participate in a large fundraiser in March/April, training younger kids at the Mira Costa pool after school to pass their Junior Lifeguard tryout test. Sessions run three days per week for three weeks, and each athlete works one session.
