Mira Costa Softball, led by new head coach Mike Mora and assistant coach Brookelynn Garcia, is a competitive organization focused on developing strong players and great leaders. We take pride in promoting a positive, supportive team environment that creates lifelong memories and friendships.
The Mustangs are looking forward to the upcoming season, planning to build on last year’s successes when the Varsity team qualified for CIF with a strong showing against tough competition and the JV team finished with an impressive record. The coaches are excited about the 2025–2026 team, with several returning top players, a deep and talented bench from last season’s JV team, and a solid group of new freshmen.
Whether new to the game or experienced, every player continues to develop their softball skills, grow as a teammate and become part of the Mira Costa softball family. Softball is a spring sport, with games scheduled from early February through May and CIF playoffs for Varsity into June.
Go Costa — we are family!

Contributions support the softball program throughout the season.

Softball is a spring sport and a cut sport with Varsity and JV teams. Experience is not required, but most new players have participated in youth leagues. There is no formal summer program. Tryouts are held at the start of the school year at the Mira Costa Varsity Field (corner of Meadows and Artesia Blvd).
All interested players — freshman, sophomore or upperclassmen — should come. Wear or bring: a water bottle, softball clothes and gear including cleats, running shoes and sunscreen. Softball pants and socks are recommended since this will be the practice uniform.
Incoming freshmen should register for 6th Period ‘Excused’ and then 7th Period as Softball if possible (softball is in lieu of a regular PE period). Once players are selected, individual schedules are adjusted with counselors. Athletes work out with the coaches in fall and winter on a block PE schedule Tuesdays and Thursdays if not enrolled in other sports.
Starting in January, Varsity typically practices or plays games five days a week and JV three days a week. The season begins in early February, with playoffs running June 1–26.
