Lacrosse is the fastest-growing CIF sport in Southern California, and the Boys’ Lacrosse program at Mira Costa is a perennial top-20 program featuring Varsity and JV teams. Twenty-six of our 47 players in 2018 were recognized as Scholar Athletes, earning a 3.5 GPA or above during lacrosse season. Seven Varsity players earned All-League honors — including the Bay League Defensive Player of the Year — and two were selected to the All-Area Team for LA County.
Lacrosse is a fast-paced, contact sport that emphasizes teamwork, with each team made up of twenty to twenty-five players. Mira Costa Boys’ Lacrosse has a proud tradition of success in the South Bay, winning the Bay League Championship in 2006, 2009 and 2010. New players are welcome — no experience required, though it’s a plus. Lacrosse is a big commitment but offers one of the most rewarding experiences, combining a bit of everything and known as “the fastest sport on two feet”!
Mira Costa Boys’ Lacrosse focuses on building well-rounded student athletes, emphasizing the fundamentals within a positive and fun environment. Our coaches encourage creative, competitive and hardworking young men to excel as individual players but, more importantly, as part of a team. Boys’ lacrosse is a spring sport, with opportunities to practice and play year-round through Lacrosse P.E., after-school sessions, and tournament and competitive league play across the summer, fall and winter.

Contributions support the boys lacrosse program throughout the year.

Boys Lacrosse is a spring sport and a cut sport, with Varsity and JV teams and potentially a JV (b) team. No experience is required, but prior experience is a plus.
Lacrosse practices year-round. Tryouts are more of an evaluation process, factoring in the summer and fall programs before players are separated into JV and Varsity rosters. Players are expected to enroll in lacrosse as soon as possible if they are not playing on another Mira Costa team prior to the spring.
Off-season practices are not daily and include both strength and conditioning and an on-field component, starting with the summer program and continuing into the school year as Lacrosse PE. Full team practice begins roughly February 1, and the season runs through late May.
Students must enroll in Fall/Winter Lacrosse PE if not enrolled in another sport. Summer is required for incoming freshmen and new players — more info on the MBX Boys Lacrosse summer program coming soon.
The summer Lacrosse program runs June 18 through July 25, 4:30–6:30pm at Mira Costa. For more information, contact Coach Karsh at coachkarsh@gmail.com.
