Ages 6-8
Reading, Discussing, Crafting, and Writing about Literature
Hosted by Michelle Syverson, current Pacific Elementary TK teacher and 30-year staff member in MBUSD with a passion for literacy and literature. Extensive training, education, and experience with English Language Arts curriculum and instruction. Experience in teaching Pre-K, TK, K, first and fifth-grade, District Literacy Specialist (2017-2021), Elementary Support Specialist, Reading Intervention Teacher, and Elementary Assistant Principal.
This camp is for lower-grade elementary students. Each session will cover different pieces of literature, for those interested in more than one session. Camps are always more fun with a friend, share this opportunity with them!
Sessions Outline:
- Listen to 1-2 read-alouds each day.
- Learn the author’s story and background.
- Engage in conversation about what was read.
- Create a literature response through writing, drawing, and crafting.
- Opportunity to write stories.
Sessions are 4 days – 2 hours, 8-12 participants. A minimum of 8 needed.
$375 per participant – Fee covers room rental (district), liability insurance, materials, and preparation cost. A minimum of 8 participants needed for each session. Sessions with low participation/interest will be cancelled.
