Two Costa athletes compete at State Championships!
The State Championships were held in Clovis CA; Prelims on Friday June 1st and Finals on Saturday June 2nd. It was fierce competition as records crumbled and upsets changed the dynamics of the day. Mira Costa sent 2 athletes to the State Championships: Xavier Court in the 3200M and Brigette Grau in the Girls Pole Vault.
Senior Xavier Court ran the race of his life at the Finals placing 3rd in a new school record time of 8:59.56! His outstanding race saw his fastest final lap time and the all-out sprint at the finish line was amazing to watch. He will run for UC Berkeley next year. Congratulations Xavier.
On Friday the field of 28 girls was reduced to 12 Finalists for Pole Vault. Brigette came in seeded #3 and got 10th Place in Prelims to be guaranteed a spot in Finals. Saturday was a tough competition and Brigette did not place. However she finished up #7 in CA and #3 in Southern CA after a solid year with 11 vaults over 12’. Brigette will compete as a Senior for Mira Costa next year.
