Girls Tennis takes 3rd place in Point Loma Tennis Invitational!

The Mira Costa girls tennis team’s undefeated season came to an end but the Mustangs still managed to finish 3rd at the Point Loma Tennis Invitational held at The Barnes Center in San Diego.  In the semifinals, in a very close and hotly-contested match, the Mustangs lost to the University Trojans, the eventual tournament champion and the #1 ranked team in SoCal, 2-4.  In the match, Mira Costa lost 3 tiebreakers.  In singles, Haily Huynh won 1-6, 7-5, and 11-9.  In doubles, Hannah Bergin/Kiki Daviduk won 6-1 and 6-2.   In the third-place match, Mira Costa defeated its very short-handed Bay League rival Peninsula 5-1.  In singles, Kacey Feng won 6-2 and 6-3; and Ella Lokier won 6-0 and 6-0.  In doubles, Haily Huynh/Audrey Vo won 6-3 and 7-6(1); Amanda Scott/Sydney Vo won 6-2 and 6-1; and Ella Davis/Peyton Douglas won 6-0 and 6-0.   The Mustangs are now 13-1 for the season.

The Mira Costa girls tennis team won its first two matches at the Point Loma Tennis Invitational in San Diego.  In the first match, the Mustangs defeated Rancho Bernardo 5 to 1.  In singles, Audrey Vo won 6-0 and 6-0; and Haily Huynh won 6-1 and 6-1.   In doubles, Kacey Feng/Sydney Vo won 6-1 and 6-0; Olga Nagy/Amanda Scott won 6-0 and 7-6(7); and Kiki Daviduk/Hannah Bergin won 6-2 and 7-6(4).  In the second match, Mira Costa defeated Canyon Crest, the defending CIF San Diego section Champion, 4-2.  In singles, in a great comeback to win the team match, Haily Huynh won 6-7(5), 6-3, and 10-7;. In doubles, Kacey Feng/Sydney Vo won 6-3, 3-6, and 10-8; Olga Nagy/Amanda Scott won 6-4 and 6-1; and Ella Davis/Peyton Douglas won 7-6(5) and 6-3. On Saturday Mira Costa plays in the semifinals against University, the #1 ranked team in the CIF Southern Section.   Peninsula and Palos Verdes are in the other half of the tournament bracket.
