Boys Soccer secures Bay League Championship Title!

The boys’ soccer team finished the regular season strong with 2 key victories to earn the Bay League Championship!

Peninsula finished with the same amount of points, but Mira Costa is on top because of the goal differential tie-breaker. They are now moving on to the C.I.F. play-offs. The first game in the 32 team bracket will be at 3:00 Friday Feb. 16th at home on the new turf field.

The 2 wins the team really needed in the last 2 weeks of league play were against Palos Verdes and Redondo. Costa beat PV 2-1 on a “golden goal” from Tanner Hong. It was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation. The game against Redondo was an awesome performance under the lights on “senior night”. Costa won 1-0 on a goal from Robert Cook and a very impressive shut-out from goalkeeper Andrew Fasano. Our 16 seniors all played a part in the victory which turned into a celebration of the the Bay League title too! Captains Fasano, Cook and Keyan Torabi led the team and the other standout players have been defenders Hong, Nick Keenan and Josh Gregson-Williams, midfielders Cooper Arak and Alex de Sousa and forward Josh Gaudiano.

The team is now are preparing to be healthy and ready for their first round game coming up this week!
