Boys Soccer defeats Palos Verdes and is tied for 1st in Bay League!
On Tuesday, January 28, the Boys Soccer team defeated rival Palos Verdes with a score of 3-1. Costa started off strong and scored two goals in the first 10 minutes. Kyle Chen score the first goal, and Jack Crawford scored the second. At half time the score was 2-1. In the second half Macley Baim scored and the game ended with a 3-1 win. The back line and goalie played solid defense the entire game. Costa had lost earlier in the season to PV, who is ranked 2nd in this weeks CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll.
The team is now tied with Palos Verdes for 1st place and there are 3 games remaining! They play Leuzinger HS at home on Friday, an away game against Centennial on February 3rd, and their last home game v Redondo on February 5th. Come out and support the team!
On Friday, Varsity beat Peninsula 2-1 in a tough battle up at Peninsula. Carson Nguyen had a goal and an assist. Kyle Chen also scored. Jared Tang made 7 saves in a strong performance in goal. The JV and FS teams each won with a 3-0 shutout to complete the sweep.
On Tuesday, the Varsity team beat Redondo 4-0. Dillan Argue had 2 goals, Anthony Lopez and Alex Rieg also scored. Goalkeepers Jared Tang and Drew Rohm split the shut-out. The backline of Kyle Chen, James Riker, Brandon Bui and Jack Crawford were very impressive. Jack also had an assist on the offensive end. The JV team tied 0-0 and FS won 1-0 leading to shutouts across the board at Redondo.
There are four Bay League games left and all 3 levels are looking to win the championship.
