LAX GIRLS LOSS CAPS HISTORIC SEASON
Twelve seniors played their final game for Mira Costa Girls Lacrosse last week – a hard fought first round Division 1 CIF loss to defending Southern California champs, Foothill High School – marking the end of an important era in the program.
Prior to these eleven girls stepping onto the field at Waller Stadium for the first time as freshman in 2020, Mira Costa Girls Lacrosse finished its regular season with a record of 6-11, more losses in a decades-long losing streak to both Redondo and Palos Verdes High. However, in their first game as freshman, an upset win against traditional Orange County powerhouse, Santa Margarita, this transformative group of seniors began laying the foundation for the program’s future, which finished this season with a 15-4 record, including wins against Redondo and PV, and their first ever inclusion in the Division 1
bracket for CIF play-offs – home to only the strongest girls’ lacrosse programs in Southern California.
It is with both sadness and excitement that we say goodbye to this amazing senior class of girls. Good luck Sophia, Abby, Katie, Meghan, Emily, Callie, Molly, Ashley, Simmy, Grace, Madison and Mackenzie.
