What a finish for the Mira Costa Mustangs Football Team!

With a disappointing preseason record of 0-7, it was not looking good for the Mustangs and a CIF playoff opportunity.  But with grit and determination, Costa clawed their way back to make it to the Division 6 CIF Championships, beating Murrietta Mesa HS in the semi-finals to find themselves hosting the Championship game vs. Simi Valley HS.  It was a sold-out crowd at Waller Stadium. The game went into overtime at 38-38, but sadly, with some unusual penalty calls during Costa’s 1stpossession, they came up short. At 10p, the lights went out, literally and after a 20-minute delay, it was Simi Valley’s turn in OT. They quickly found the endzone, beating Costa 44-38 to win the Division 6 CIF Championship.  Costa Mustangs last appearance in CIF Finals was 2009! Congratulations Mustangs! Great 2023 season and a great finish!
