Costa Football starts off Bay League play with win over Peninsula!
The Mira Costa Mustang football team took to the field Friday to open up Bay League play vs. Peninsula High School. The Panthers jumped out to an early lead on an interception returned for a touchdown and that was followed up by a 3- yard touchdown, following a Mustang fumble inside their own 5 yard line. However, despite the early first quarter deficit, the boys from Costa maintained their composure and scored 4 unanswered touchdowns to give the Mustangs a 28 – 14 win. Costa employed a punishing ground game by Seniors Jonah Tavai and Vashon Hill. The Mustang offensive line, led by Seniors Ryan Ohanessian and Robert Fiene, provided the blocking and whoever was left unblocked was either avoided by Hill or run over by Tavai. The victory puts the Mustangs in a 3-way tie for first, and sets up an important road game vs. Morningside High School this Friday night.
